Mufti Ismaeel Bassa

Mufti Ismaeel Bassa is a respected South African Islamic scholar and specialist in Hanafi Fiqh, based in Durban. He is a senior student and disciple of the late world-renowned jurist Mufti Ebrahim Desai and serves as a key Mufti at the Jamiatul Ulama KZN (Council of Muslim Theologians) Fatwa Department in Overport. In addition to his role at the Jamiat, he is the founder of TheMufti.com, an online platform dedicated to providing legal verdicts and guidance on contemporary issues. His work focuses extensively on Inheritance (Meeraath), Islamic finance, and marital dispute resolution, and he frequently delivers Jumu'ah sermons and lectures at various Durban masaajid, including Musjidul Misbaah and the Sherwood Musjid. He is recognized for his practical and structured approach to complex legal inquiries, often providing detailed rulings that bridge traditional scholarship with modern challenges.
